Google are hiring an SEO expert.
The job posting “Project Manager, Search Engine Optimisation” popped up on the Google job boards a few days ago.
So what’s actually involved in the job?
“As a Program Manager for Technical SEO, you will work with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Engineering and more to help drive organic traffic and business growth. You will take part in website development and optimization, help shape blog and social strategy, improve website code hygiene and define web architecture for international websites.”
I had two initial thoughts when I read this:
- They’re only doing this for PR after their latest legal battles
- It just highlights how complicated SEO is now
Maybe Google just wants to become better at Googling Google.
It’s quite funny how Google, who controls the largest search engine in the history of the world needs to hire someone to help with Google rankings. It’s probably a comforting thought for all the SEO experts out there.
Even Google needs help with the complicated algorithms.
